The first is a summary of existing information on formulas from the Chinese and English language sources, with appropriate references. The second offers Jake Fratkin's 32 years of experience in using and applying Chinese herbal medicine. His personal insights are included in the Commentary for each formula. In the TCM colleges, students are exposed to over 800 formulas. This book focuses on the 225 most important formulas in clinical practice, and reference the various manufacturers for each formula.
