Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about Far East Summit, our herbal products, ordering, manufacturing, and shipping. For clinical guidance, always consult a licensed practitioner.

General

Who is Far East Summit and what is its purpose?

Far East Summit was founded to produce herbal products that integrate the knowledge of the Chinese herbal tradition with modern bio-medical research. Our team brings more than 60 years of combined experience to crafting formulas, while supporting traditional wisdom and practitioner education.

Can anyone order Far East Summit products?

Our products are intended for health care practitioners, clinics, health-related businesses, and students of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Proof of professional licensure or certification is required for restricted products. Some products are available to the general public in the unrestricted sections of our website. Retail businesses must have a licensed practitioner on staff.

Can I distribute Far East Summit products?

Yes. We work with distributors — please see our distribution inquiry page or contact our order desk for details.

Herbal

How do I find the appropriate use for a product, formula, or herb?

By law we cannot provide health-related claims. Please consult a licensed practitioner, or use the reference materials on Traditional Chinese Medicine linked throughout our website to research traditional uses.

If I can't order herbs from you directly, where can I order them?

Our website links to reputable distributors and searchable directories where you can find practitioners and retail sources.

How long do I need to take the herbs before I feel the effects?

It varies by herb. Some herbs act very quickly, such as powerful Qi tonics, while others build the body's systems gradually. Results depend on your individual health, constitution, and lifestyle — including diet, exercise, and rest. Compliance and patience are necessary ingredients of any herbal regimen.

If I am pregnant, can I consume your herbal products?

Always consult your licensed healthcare practitioner before starting any herbal regimen during pregnancy. Our liquid products contain grain alcohol, which warrants caution. That said, most of our herbal products are considered safe and have traditionally been used to support mothers and babies.

Is it safe to take herbal supplements with prescription or over-the-counter drugs?

Most herbs are categorized as foods and are generally compatible with medications. The main concern is combining blood-thinning herbs with anticoagulant drugs. Always consult your licensed healthcare practitioner before combining supplements with any medication.

Where are your products made?

All products except Luminous are manufactured in our company-owned Oregon facility, which is US FDA registered and licensed by Lane County and the Oregon Department of Agriculture. Luminous is produced in a certified facility in China under Far East Summit supervision, with samples tested for microbial and heavy-metal analysis.

How are dosages determined?

The general recommended dosage is 1–3 capsules twice a day, though every body responds differently. We encourage customers to observe their own bodies and, with their practitioner, determine the dose that is right for them. All products are formulated to be safe and effective.

I know individual Chinese herbs work — why should I use a formula?

Unlike Western medicine, which targets a specific disease, Traditional Chinese Medicine seeks balance. A formula combines herbs of varied properties into a balanced whole, and expert blending maximizes their effectiveness beyond what individual herbs achieve alone.

CCM & TCM

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is one of the world's oldest healing systems, developed over thousands of years. It emphasizes maintaining individual health through diet, exercise, and meditation, and works best as a partnership between an attentive patient and their practitioner.

Extraction & cGMP

How do I determine a standard dose of liquid extract or liquid concentrate?

Detailed dosing guidance for liquid extracts and concentrates is coming soon. In the meantime, please contact our order desk or consult your practitioner.

Why do some products occasionally look or taste different from a previous batch?

Our quality procedures include quarantine, document review, and organoleptic analysis. Natural herbs vary from batch to batch because of climate, soil, and other factors inherent to botanical materials, so slight differences in appearance or taste are normal.

How does Far East Summit determine whether its herbs are clean?

Detailed information about our herb testing and quality-assurance process is coming soon.

Do you custom manufacture? Can I have formulas made?

Yes. Contract manufacturing and private-label services are available. Please see our manufacturing page or contact us to discuss your project.

Do you offer free shipping?

Free UPS Ground shipping applies to orders over $225 within the continental United States only. Customers in Alaska and Hawaii should contact the order desk for shipping rates.

What is your policy on products not received on the original order?

Unless prior arrangements are made, Far East Summit does not back-order products that were unavailable at the time of your original order. Please include any out-of-stock items with your next order.
