TCM Pattern

Treats initial stage wind-cold patterns that present with sweating, aversion to cold and headache along with the tongue and pulse mentioned above. Cold or wind-cold patterns in deficient patients that present as seminal emissions, post-partum abdominal pain, muscle and joint pain (bi) or spontaneous sweating.

Dispels cold, effuses the exterior and harmonizes the construction and defense aspects.*

Clinical Indications

Initial stage wind-cold (cold and flu) with sweating and headache, spontaneous sweating, joint and muscle pain, seminal emissions and post-partum abdominal pain. This formula also can address heart palpitations, wind-cold skin rashes, vacuity colds and repeated colds.

Symptoms & Signs

Treats weak patients with wind-cold patterns with symptoms such as sweating, fever, headache and aversion to cold. This formula is also used to treat skin disorders such as hives when repeated wind-cold symptoms accompany the dermatologic symptoms. In patients with non-exterior patterns, the formula serves as a supplementing formula to harmonize qi and blood, warm and free the yang and address internal disorders such as palpitations, spontaneous sweating, seminal emissions and muscle and joint pain.

Precautions

This formula should not be prescribed to those with internal heat signs or in excessively hot weather. Signs of internal heat include a rapid pulse, high fever, thirst and a severely sore throat.
