Therapeutic Functions

Fortifies the spleen, courses the liver and resolves depressing, transforms stasis and moves blood, harmonizes the constructive, supplements the blood, resolves depressive heat.*

Clinical Indications

Food allergies, anemia, pleurisy, chronic gastritis, diarrhea, peptic ulcer, hepatitis, vaginitis, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, premenstrual syndrome, menopausal infertility and syndrome.

Symptoms & Signs

Alternating hot and cold, fatigue, reduced appetite, insomnia, vertigo, dry mouth and throat, bitter taste, headache, dizziness, hypochondriac pain, abdominal distention, loose stools, irritability, restlessness, impotence, breast distention, leukorrhea, irregular menstruation, and menorrhagia.

Precautions

Use cautiously in patients with yin vacuity and with an ascension of liver yang. Bupleurum and Peony Formula may cause headaches and nausea in individuals with these conditions.

Pulse Quality

Wiry, especially in left bar position; slightly rapid, fine and vacuous.

Tongue Appearance

Thin white or yellow coat.
