Dr. George Lamoureux

DAOM, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)

Founder, Jing Herbs

Dr. George Lamoureux is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, a licensed acupuncturist and the founder of Jing Herbs. Trained in the Taoist tradition of the Ni family and in clinical and tonic herbalism, he has spent more than thirty years helping people protect and nourish their health through Chinese herbal medicine. He now practices in North Carolina.

Roots in Taoist Herbalism

After a profound experience with Reishi mushroom, George discovered that health and healing was his path. He began his career in 1993 as an apprentice herbalist at the Tea Garden and Herbal Emporium in Los Angeles. Over a long tenure there he served as herbalist, Senior Herbalist, Store Manager and Vice President of Operations, and in 2004 he was elected to the company’s Board of Directors. When the Tea Garden was sold and re-branded as Dr. Tea’s, he became its Director of Herbal Programs.

He was introduced to the Taoist healing arts by his teachers Daoshing and Maoshing Ni, who shared the wisdom and family tradition of an unbroken line of physicians dating back 38 generations.

Education and Clinical Training

Dr. George earned his master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture (M.A.T.C.M.) at Yo San University, then pursued post-graduate studies in gynecology and fertility with Bob Flaws. He completed programs of study at both the Shanghai and Chengdu hospitals of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the People’s Republic of China, and in 2011 was certified as a Medical Qigong Practitioner by Dr. Bernard Shannon of the International Institute of Medical Qigong.

He returned to Yo San University for his Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, completed in 2014. His doctoral capstone was a clinical trial of a modified classical formula, Bupleurum and Dragon Bone (Chai Hu Long Gu Mu Li Tang Jia Jian), for stress; participants’ scores on the standardized Perceived Stress Scale fell significantly over the course of the trial (p = .001). He also holds certifications in healthy aging, dermatology and female reproductive health.

The integration of these three energies constitutes our very existence and they are considered to be treasures that should be protected, nourished, and balanced.

Founding Jing Herbs

In 2002, George incorporated Jing Herbs to build a company true to the teachings of his masters, both ancient and modern. After years of research and formulation alongside his long-time colleague and fellow Senior Herbalist John Bonds, the company began operations in 2008. “Jing” was chosen from ancient Taoist texts because it means the source, the foundation — the primal essence of human beings — and the company practices the Taoist Three Treasures philosophy of cultivating Jing, Qi and Shen: Essence, Energy and Spirit.

Teaching and Practice

Dr. George has lectured to audiences across the United States and in Europe, and has taught in Yo San University’s Tao of Herbs continuing-education series. With John Bonds he hosts The Chinese Herb Health & Longevity Show, a podcast exploring the history, healing and empowerment of classical Chinese medicine, herbs and thought. He is also the author of High Performance Entrepreneurs Handbook: 5 Easy Recipes for Maintaining Energy, Productivity, Immunity and Well-Being.

For more than three decades he has dedicated his work to protecting, nourishing and balancing Essence, Energy and Spirit for the thousands of clients who have sought his expertise. Los Angeles Confidential magazine called him “one of the best herbalists in the country.”
